Today felt like summer. More then any other day so far. My day was spent at the Tennis courts and then the remainder of the day was enjoying the beach and taking in Gods glory with josh and my daddy! Now What could be a better day really?

Today was so much fun! I love summer! I got up this morning and my brothers and myself went to spend the day at the beach, with some amazing friends of mine! Afterwords Josh and I played tennis for about an hour. We are so Bad at this game! There was a little child standing at the gate the whole time, and when we were done he said "you know there are other sports you might like, this one really isn't doing much for you" So after that word of encouragement. Josh and I came home and got ready for home group. And that my friends was my day.

New Orleans Mission X Trip

We (My dad and I) awoke at 4:30 am this morning to start our Mission X adventure!!
Wow i am sitting on the plane on my way to New Orleans! my Dad is sitting next to me,he is eating some strange plane food. I have decided that i am not very fond plane food or small planes this same thing happened when I went to NA a few weeks ago. they make me ill. Anyway it is hard to believe that there is twenty-two of us are spread through the cabin, It doesn't feel like it could hold that many of us.. As of right now Heather W and Tobin are playing cards on the back of my seat. I am not sure of the specific game, all i know is my seat keeps moving and i think if they keep at this much longer i will be sick. The rest of the plane is pretty quiet, other then our flight attendant. she is very talkative and outspoken, for example she asked my row if we wanted drinks and my dad started to tell her what he would like and in half sentence she cut him off and said "lady's first gosh!" I was surprised, this being only my second plane ride i don't really know if this is uncommon? 9:30pm Our flight will lasted only an hour and a half. when we landed I couldn't believe that we were finally here! We all started to make our way to the cars and Natalie C. and I could no longer contain our excitement so we skipped over to the cars. I think people already beginning to get see us as trouble lol. After this all of us jumped into the cars and we went to the rent-a-car place. Let me tell you if you don't know this, New Orleans is Hotter then any place I have ever been. when we got there we all waited in the shade of one of the large vans and listened to Jake P. tell the story of how he came to be on this missions trip and not in the Bahamas. After this we drove over to our host family, Billy and Tiffany Bath. They have an amazing home! When you pull up to there house it could not be more inviting! the warm brick and there lanterns that hang on the wall by the front door with a constant flame was so cool. when we walked inside we were greeted by five adorable children – Alexandra, Harrison, Olivia, Jonathan and baby Benjamin who is two. SO cute!they have the most amazing living room, they have a looonnngg red couch and i must have sat there 20minutes with there daughter Olivia. There are fourteen girls and two adults, along with our host family... The baths are soo brave! Monica is my roommate along with 7 other girls. we are all going to be in the living room for this little adventure. After meeting our host family, unloading our belongings, and eating lunch together(there is no food like New Orleans food), we ventured out in a caravan of vehicles to visit what was left of the Lakeview Church. To give you some background Lakeview was adopted by Sovereign Grace and is now a sister church. Their newly renovated building was destroyed when hurricane Katrina hit the coast and the levees burst. Many people lost everything and families who’d served together for twenty years were scattered across the country. It was so heart breaking! Just knowing how exiting it is to get into your new church building, and all the work and fundraising that goes into it. And just having it all washed away.. In circumstances like this it is so comforting knowing that the Lord has a plan for all of this! As we walked around we saw where the building had been and the new pieces of property they’ve been able to acquire since the storm. The families around the church weren’t open or even friendly to the church but are now so much more receptive to their presence, especially after the hard work Lakeview has done in the neighborhood. We also saw one area near the church where the levee broke. Two years later, the city is still repairing the breech. Families that have lived on the same street together for generations were swept away or dispersed because of the deluge of water. After hearing several sobering stories of loss and seeing the high water mark on a huge oak tree, we drove slowly down the water-torn streets. In some places the water was eighteen feet high. Many have not returned and houses remain broken and abandoned, much like the unsaved souls of those in the city.As we drove around there were specific things that really stood out to me, to list a few, on many of the broken down houses there were large orange X's painted on the doors, I believe the military had gone through many of the neighborhoods and searched the houses and the X's would be a sign that the Houses had been searched, and it would also have written the number of dead bodies that were or were not found. Also many of the houses had large water lines on them where the water had sat for days.. There a great sense of loss here but the sparks of hope, faith and renewal are strong in the lives of the believers at Lakeview. Their courageous stories are so inspiring and there is joy amidst the terrible devastation. The remainder of the day was spent driving or walking the streets of downtown New Orleans in the French Quarter, There were Beautiful historic buildings, strains of jazz music! It was really beautiful. Natalie was my buddy. I found it most funny through out the day, because I would think we would be the most likely to get lost first hehe. My dad and I stopped and and looked at some of the paintings that seemed to be hung up all over by local artists. they were really outstanding. then we walked into this beautiful courtyard. In the middle there was a large statue of a man on a horse. I thought he must have been important to have a whole courtyard to himself. Later I found out it was called Jackson Square.. After venturing into many shops, all selling a verity of different things, Old toys, funny looking paintings, some smelled so strange you would walk in and a moment later you would just walk out again haha After finding some things to send my momma, all the different groups that had walked around began to gather together again. It was amazing to just stop and look at the architecture, it is so beautiful and the avenues were awash with all sorts of people. There was a great contrast between the beauty of the city and the ugliness of sin. There were evidences here and there of lost lives seeking fulfillment in the pursuit of pleasures but our God is bigger than our sins. He sees and knows what happens in the dark corners of the Big Easy. The church here could not be more sorely needed!! Soon after we had all met up we headed off to join the Lakeview youth group for a lovely game of bowling.. I do enjoy watching people bowl, its just embarrassing to play.. needless to say at the end of the night my high score was a 14.. haha It was pretty funny. It was a lot of fun really, getting to know my team and the youth group was really fun. The Lakeview kids are so welcoming and hospitable. The we all went to Wendy's to enjoy some healthy food and fellowship. then we split up into the guys and girls cars, And to bed at last. Well almost, as of this moment all the girls are sitting around the living room writing down the days events. But I think I am finished for today. Tomorrow we are going to be having our first workday!! I have heard the yards have mice..

This morning The Lord opened my eyes once again, to how truly AMAZING He is!
After a good long run with my dog, I have come to realize how truly hot this state is.
I wouldn't have it any different. As for the rest of the day, I have been reading. Its truly outstanding how ones self can get so enveloped in the pages of a book.
Well I am off to play a game of tennis with my brother. On one last note, I love summer!!!
